Castilla-La Mancha promotes agricultural innovation with a conference on operational groups

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha will hold a conference on innovation in the agri-food sector on June 9th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., within the framework of the CAP Strategic Plan (PEPAC) . The event will take place at the Regional Institute for Agri-Food and Forestry Research and Development (IRIAF) in Tomelloso. The event, entitled " INNOVATION PROJECTS. Operational Groups," was organized in conjunction with the upcoming call for grants for Operational Groups. Its objective is to disseminate the results of innovative projects already implemented and to serve as a forum for collaboration and collaboration for the creation of new groups and the design of future initiatives. During the event, representatives from various Operational Groups will present their experiences and success stories, providing knowledge and motivation to new stakeholders interested in participating in this line of grants . This dialogue space aims to foster cooperation between farmers, ranchers, companies, research centers, and other entities in the sector, in line with the PEPAC strategy to promote more innovative, sustainable, and competitive agriculture in Castilla-La Mancha. In June, Grupo AN is organizing an immersion program for young professionals in the Extremadura agri-food cooperative sector.

From June 10 to 12, 2025, the AN Group will carry out the initiative "Bringing New Professionals to the Agri-Food Cooperative Sector in Extremadura," a training activity designed to foster knowledge and connection among young talents with the cooperative model and its role in the agri-food chain. The program, which is expected to involve approximately 15 people, includes technical visits, meetings with experts, and information sessions in various locations in Salamanca and Badajoz. The activity aims to introduce new professionals to the real-life workings of cooperatives and their connection to innovation, sustainability, and rural development. Empowering women through innovation in Mediterranean agri-food systems

From June 10 to 12, 2025, CIHEAM Zaragoza will host the International Symposium "Empowering Women through Innovation in Mediterranean Agri-Food Systems." Organized by CIHEAM Zaragoza and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), with the collaboration of the CIHEAM General Secretariat and the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the event will bring together representatives of international organizations such as FAO, IFAD, OECD, the European Commission, ICARDA, and IWMI, as well as entrepreneurs, researchers, and members of civil society and the private sector. The symposium seeks to highlight the role of women as drivers of change toward more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient agri-food systems. A dynamic program, including lectures, roundtables, case studies, interactive workshops, and field visits, will address the main challenges and opportunities facing women in Mediterranean agriculture and rural areas. The event will also address how innovation—from digital technologies to agroecological and social solutions—can catalyze women's empowerment in agri-food systems, transforming traditional practices and promoting more sustainable and inclusive models. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the SIMBIOLIVA Operational Group will participate in the presentation of the results of the Andalusian operational group NATURSMOKE , which will take place at the emblematic Carmen de la Victoria in Granada. The event will bring together experts, researchers, and companies from the agri-food sector to discuss new sustainable technologies applied to plant pathogen control and byproduct valorization . The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. with an institutional welcome by representatives of BIOPLAGEN and BIOVEGEN . This will be followed by a general presentation of the NATURSMOKE Operational Group, with the participation of representatives from collaborating entities such as DOMCA, AGRICULTURA Y ENSAYO, and the University of Granada. Starting at 1:30 p.m., there will be a networking event for the various operational groups present. The POMODORO Operational Group will actively participate in the 40th National Irrigation Congress , which will be held from June 11 to 13, 2025 , in Albacete , with an agenda focused on the dissemination of the progress and objectives of its project in terms of sustainability and innovation in horticultural irrigation. This activity is part of the GO POMODORO dissemination plan, which will take advantage of the prestigious technical and scientific forum organized by the Spanish Association of Irrigation and Drainage (AERYD) , with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , the University of Castilla‐La Mancha , the Albacete City Council , the Regional Government of Castilla‐La Mancha and the Albacete Provincial Council . During the conference, the operational group's partners will present their work on proposed thematic areas , such as technology and digitalization for irrigation , the interaction between agriculture and the environment , and efficient water management . These presentations will allow the technical community to share the progress made within the framework of the POMODORO project, which aims to improve water and energy efficiency in the cultivation of industrial tomatoes and other irrigated vegetables. 40th National Irrigation Congress, in Albacete

Between June 11 and 13, 2025, it will take place at the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering and Forestry and Biotechnology of Albacete , located on the University Campus The Spanish Irrigation and Drainage Association (AERYD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the Albacete City Council, the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha and the Albacete Provincial Council are collaborating in the organization of this event, which will include technical-scientific sessions, working lunches, the Business Innovation Forum and technological demonstrations, among other activities.
