EU CAP Network is organizing a seminar in Brussels on the right to remain for young farmers and rural youth.

On March 11, 2026 , the EU CAP Network will hold in Brussels (Belgium) the face-to-face seminar “Ensuring the right to stay for young farmers and rural youth” , a working day focused on turning the EU Strategy for Generational Change in Agriculture into concrete actions at the national and regional level . The meeting will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CET) at the Renaissance Hotel and will be conducted entirely in English , without interpretation services. Participation is free and registration is open until February 5th. Facing the generational challenge of rural Europe European rural areas face a major demographic challenge: the average age of farmers in the EU is approaching 60 and only 12% are under 40 , while one in three rural young people consider leaving their territory due to a lack of opportunities, services and social isolation. In this context, the seminar aims to serve as a space for exchange, dialogue and the creation of alliances to advance solutions that make agriculture and rural life more attractive to new generations, aligned with the European Strategy for Generational Change. Seminar priorities and focus The event will focus on key priorities to drive change , including: Access to land and transfer of holdings Capabilities, innovation and training Attractiveness of rural areas Youth as co-protagonists in the design of public policies Through plenary sessions and youth-led Policy Labs , participants will work collaboratively on practical solutions that enable rural youth and young farmers to stay, start businesses and thrive in rural Europe . The Association for the Integrated Development of the Ambroz Valley (DIVA) will hold Activity 6 (A6) of the RURALMENTE project on March 19, 2026, in Aldeanueva del Camino (Cáceres). This activity focuses on “The importance of quality brands in the production, processing, and marketing of agri-food products.” This initiative is part of a knowledge-sharing program aimed at promoting promotional models that encourage PDO/PGI status in strategic rural areas of Galicia and Extremadura . The event will take place in the Marce “Forillo” Hall (Aldeanueva del Camino), from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is open to the general public , in addition to having a group of experts and coordination staff. Focus of the activity The seminar will address the role of quality brands as a lever for: strengthen product differentiation , improve transformation and marketing strategies, and generate territorial value linked to rural identity and certified quality. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the agri-food sector, from primary production to the food chain. In this context, Córdoba will host AI-AGRIFOOD 2026 , the International Congress on Artificial Intelligence in the Agri-food System, a key event for professionals in AI, data, agriculture, and agri-food innovation, on March 19 and 20, 2026 . The congress will address the role of AI applied to agriculture and food, the advanced use of data, and science to drive sustainability and efficiency "from farm to fork." AI-AGRIFOOD 2026 is envisioned as a meeting point for scientific knowledge, technological development, and real-world impact in the sector. The event is organized by the University of Córdoba , through the ENIA International Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture , in collaboration with IFAPA and IAS-CSIC . World Olive Oil Exhibition. The meeting point for olive oil professionals. Business and growth, agriculture and machinery, gastronomy, design... In its latest edition, the WOOE program featured over 60 speakers in conferences and tastings, addressing key issues for the future of the sector. From marketing strategies in international markets to the impact of tourism on olive oil producing regions, the sessions generated significant interest among the professionals in attendance. For its part, the Olive Oil Bar , one of the most visited spaces, offered attendees the opportunity to taste more than 150 extra virgin olive oils , allowing them to discover the richness and diversity of this essential product in the Mediterranean diet. Furthermore, the meetings between producers and buyers facilitated the generation of trade agreements that will contribute to strengthening the positioning of olive oil on the international stage.
