FORESCELTA Operational Group: Extensive precision management of Celtic-type pigs in Ibero-Atlantic deciduous forests.

The depopulation of territories with a high rural vulnerability index requires both the search for new production systems that provide added value and, therefore, better conditions, and the maintenance and recovery of native breeds, well adapted to the environment and providing synergies to underutilized forest areas with great potential, to boost economic activity that currently exists or is very limited. The FORESCELTA project, organized through a supra-regional operational group (OG) made up of related associations and entities from Asturias and Galicia, aims to contribute to the recovery and maintenance of Celtic pig breeds, as well as to forest clearing through an alternative system that automatically controls, restrains, and feeds free-roaming livestock. This system is already under preliminary study in Galicia.
