Description
The aim of the Operational Group is to lay the foundations for the defence and promotion in the market of pure varieties of Iberian pig that are in danger of extinction and exclusive to the Extremadura region.
All this is achieved through an in-depth study of productive varieties and the quality of the carcass and meat, the biotechnological analysis of their genome and the design of innovative crossbreeding and genetic improvement strategies.
Description of activities
The following activities will be specifically worked on:
- Characterization of farm productivity, meat quality, carcass and products.
- Identification of genetic markers from a reproductive and meat quality perspective.
- Design and validation of crosses with Duros.
- Design of genetic improvement programs.
