Description

Knowledge generation, tools, an action protocol, and a network of producers for the supply and promotion of local organic fruit and vegetable products in public school cafeterias.

Objectives
  • Improving the skills of local organic fruit and vegetable producers to facilitate the transition to sustainability of public canteens in Madrid, Valencia, and the Canary Islands
Results
  • Generating knowledge about the productive capacities of organic fruit and vegetables, the characteristics of the public catering sector, consumer eating habits, and the ecological footprint of public dining menus.
  • Launch of pilot initiatives in public canteens
  • Establishment of a local and supra-regional network of local organic fruit and vegetable producers for the collection and distribution of their products in public catering services.
  • Communication campaign to promote the inclusion of local organic food products through public procurement
