The main result of the AgriRegenCarbon operating group will be the development of a methodology for generating carbon emission offsets in the agricultural sector. The main beneficiaries of this result will be, on the one hand, the farmers themselves who wish to start working with carbon emission offsets from regenerative agriculture, and also, the global population, as it will have a direct impact on the permanent capture of carbon in the soil, reducing emissions.
The methodology for regenerative agriculture resulting from this project will be available and accessible to any actor in the sector who wishes to apply it, thus being of public benefit, and with the aim of being a driving force for change in the current agricultural panorama by turning an apparent problem into a transcendental and disruptive solution to combat the climate crisis.
- Preparation of the preliminary draft with different scenarios.
- Establishment of the baseline, through land sampling, of the farms for their subsequent entry into the Carbon Farming program.
- Activity. Proposal for a technical itinerary for the implementation of more sustainable practices and agreement with farmers for the project scenario.
- Preparation of the PDD and model for signing the contract for entry into the Carbon Farming program.
- Preparation of the economic and financial analysis taking into account the different budgetary options.
- Compilation of data related to logistics, difficulties and points for improvement in the development of the sampling process.
- Preparation of the report analyzing the economic and logistical viability of the proposed monitoring mechanism.
- Analysis, validation and certification of the methodology against the ISO 14064-2 standard.
- Analysis and preparation of the report on the suitability of the methodological proposal, in relation to the MITECO volunteer and the QU.ALITY criteria.
- Prospecting potential clients and presenting the compensation proposal through the credits generated.
- Achievement of a pre-purchase agreement for the credits to be generated.
- Reading, criticism and review, establishing weak points and proposals for improvement.
- Integration of improvement proposals into the methodology, iteration meetings to achieve integration of the proposals into the methodology.
- Reading, analysis and research of the methods available for monitoring biodiversity in agroecosystems.
- Validation of the suitability of the proposed methods with farmers participating in the program.
- Final report, economic analysis of the proposed methods, demonstrative graphs, data sources.
- Compilation of data from online databases available for the project farms.
- Preparation of the comparative report.
The main objective of the AgriRegenCarbon operating group is to establish a pilot project to validate the technical, regulatory and economic viability of a methodology for generating carbon emission offsets in the agricultural sector. To do so, it relies on the implementation of regenerative agriculture as a vehicle to capture carbon dioxide and help mitigate the climate crisis, with agriculture being part of the solution.
