Abstract
  1. Reduction of Post-Harvest Losses.
    1. Waste Minimization: Reducing post-harvest losses of subtropical fruits by applying advanced technologies to improve conservation and quality management.
    2. Waste Management Efficiency: Leveraging byproducts and scraps to develop new products, thereby reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.
  2. Improving Product Quality.
    1. Increased Shelf Life: Extending the shelf life of subtropical fruits, ensuring their freshness and quality for longer.
    2. Added Value to Products: Increase the nutritional and sensory value of fruits by incorporating bioactive compounds and innovative treatments.
  3. Progress in Sector Sustainability.
    1. Implementation of Eco-Sustainable Practices: Promote the use of organic practices and products in cultivation and post-harvest, reducing the environmental impact of the agro-industrial sector.
    2. Carbon Footprint Reduction: Develop products with a low carbon footprint and minimize the use of chemical synthesis inputs.
  4. Strengthening the Competitiveness of the Agri-Food Sector.
    1. Improving Technological Competencies: Boosting the technological skills of Andalusian agri-food companies, facilitating their adaptation to new technologies and conservation strategies.
    2. Increased Competitiveness: Offering producers and marketers a competitive advantage through higher-quality products and innovative conservation strategies.
Description of activities

1.1. Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Technologies. Development of Non-Destructive Image Analysis Techniques and Application of ICT Tools. 1.2. Identification and Use of Byproducts. Analysis of Byproducts and Fruit Remains and Development of Organic Products. 1.3. Postharvest Conservation Strategies. Development and Validation of Eco-Sustainable Treatments and Implementation of Treatments Based on Advanced Technologies. 1.4. Evaluation and Monitoring. Product Testing and Evaluation and Shelf-Life Quality Monitoring.

Objectives

The EcoSkin project focuses on improving the conservation of subtropical fruits through eco-sustainable strategies and the implementation of advanced technologies. GO EcoSkin will last 24 months and will be located in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is a project directly related to Environmental Sustainability, the reduction of waste through the reuse of by-products (circular economy), the improvement of the positioning of agri-food products in the market and the development of post-harvest technologies that strengthen the agro-industry.
