Abstract

Results: A web platform that brings together all the information on the bioeconomy in Andalusia. A tool to improve knowledge, production, and efficient use of all available and future resources in the fruit and vegetable sector, enabling it to become a benchmark in the field of the Circular Economy in Andalusia, both for the administration and for the productive sector and society. Main value: Organization of conferences and discussion forums for key players in the bioeconomy in the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector.

Design, proposal, and promotion of participatory processes (conferences, webinars, workshops, subsector-specific group meetings). Opportunities: Professionals will be able to identify sectoral needs and create new business lines aligned with industry demands.

Description

The creation of an Andalusian Observatory on Agricultural Economics arises from the need to measure the impact and progress of the bioeconomy in Andalusia. Initially, it will focus on the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector, and later extend it to all Andalusian sectors that implement the circular economy, thus supporting the Andalusian Bioeconomy Strategy.

The purpose of the Observatory, therefore, is to initially monitor and monitor bioeconomy information related to the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector, as well as trends in Andalusia. With the creation of this Observatory, although initially focused on horticulture, the idea is to serve as a basis for extending it to the entire Andalusian agri-food sector and contribute to greater knowledge among stakeholders, including the general public. This will contribute to improving production and economic processes and increasing awareness of all information on the circular economy in the Andalusian agri-food sector.

Finally, this project meets the objectives of the Andalusian Bioeconomy Strategy, which states that "the Andalusian agri-food sector is a model where research and innovation have a great capacity for incorporation, with growing interest in bioproducts from all agricultural production sectors, with a powerful technical and scientific infrastructure, including in renewable energies, and an interconnected, plural, and diverse business fabric, where biotechnological innovations are rapidly disseminated and safely implemented."

Description of activities

Main activities of the project:

  • Compilation, analysis, and review of all information on the development of studies in the fruit and vegetable sector and technological foresight, as well as all the research and innovation currently being carried out in both public centers and companies in the agri-food sector.
  • Creation and design of the observatory's IT platform for consultation, and all the information available therein.
  • Drafting a report that includes the results obtained from the creation of the IT platform.
  • Project dissemination activities, with the aim of attracting the interest of as many beneficiaries as possible.
Objectives

This project will focus on the creation of an Andalusian Bioeconomy Observatory for the agricultural industry. It arose from the need to measure the impact and progress of the bioeconomy in Andalusia. Initially, it will focus on the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector, thus supporting the Andalusian Bioeconomy Strategy.

The overall objective of this project is to create a platform to collect bioeconomy information related to the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector and make it publicly available.

In addition, it will create a dissemination and dialogue program with other sectors within the bioeconomy to exchange opinions from all productive sectors, consumers, etc.
