Description
The group proposes sustainable extraction techniques for the recovery of agri-food waste and its value through four applications for the agriculture, livestock, and food industry sectors.
Objectives
- The objective of GO INNOEXTRACT is to develop extraction protocols, alternative to the use of organic solvents, to obtain different compounds of interest and different by-products. Through the use of clean, environmentally friendly technologies with high yields and economically viable applications in the agricultural, food, cosmetics, and dietary supplement sectors.
- Among the objectives of the project we highlight the following:
- Selection and characterization of waste and by-products from the agri-food industry for the extraction of compounds:
- Development and application at laboratory scale of extraction protocols with the elimination of organic solvents.
- Semi-industrial scale application of the developed protocols. Extraction and purification of compounds of interest.
- Application of the compounds in different fields of industrial activity: Food (preservatives and enriched foods), agriculture (high added value fertilizers).
- Validation of the products obtained and demonstration actions aimed at companies.
Results
- Content and valorization potential of bioactive compounds of interest in oil and citrus residues
- Innovative extraction protocols for bioactive compounds for each type of waste (oil and citrus) as an alternative to extraction with organic solvents at pilot and semi-industrial levels
- Extracts validated for their bioactive and technological properties
