Description
The group proposes sustainable extraction techniques for the valorisation of agro-food waste and its enhancement through 4 applications for the agriculture, livestock and food industry sectors.
Objectives
- Quantitative and qualitative assessment of bioactive compounds of interest in olive and citrus industry waste.
- Design and development of innovative and sustainable extraction protocols for waste from the olive and citrus industries.
- Validation of the bioactive capacity of extracts obtained in different fields of industrial activity: food, agriculture and animal nutrition.
Results
- Content and valorization potential of bioactive compounds of interest in oil and citrus residues.
- Innovative extraction protocols for bioactive compounds for each type of waste (oil and citrus) as an alternative to extraction with organic solvents at pilot and semi-industrial levels.
- Extracts validated for their bioactive and technological properties.
