Course on the importance of quality brands in the agri-food sector, using the PGI "Pataca de Galicia" as an example.
Description
The Limia-Arnoia Rural Development Group (GDR10) will hold a training event on August 26th, focusing on the importance of differentiated quality brands in food production, processing, and marketing. The event is part of the "RURALMENTE" project , aimed at sharing knowledge and developing promotional models to promote the adoption of PDOs and PGIs in strategic rural areas for Galicia and Extremadura .
The event will focus on the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) "Patata de Galicia" model, a successful example of promoting local produce and promoting agricultural development in the region.
Program of activities
- 10:00 a.m. – Certification and control of potatoes protected by the PGI Patata de Galicia
- 10:30 a.m. – Marketing and promotion of Galician potatoes with Protected Geographical Indication
- 11:00 a.m. – Scientific advances in the sustainable management of potato diseases
- 12:00 PM – “Dig deep and throw away trash” : soil activators. Fertilizing potatoes
- 12:30 p.m. – Roundtable with producers of Galician PGI potatoes
- 1:30 p.m. – Tasting of potato dishes from A Limia
- 4:00 p.m. – Visit to Julio Montero's farm in Porqueira
This event provides an opportunity for farmers, technicians, agri-food companies, and interested members of the public to learn firsthand about the importance of certification and the added value that quality standards bring to the economic and social development of rural areas.
