Description

VISION4FOOD aims to build sustainable and resilient food systems across Europe. The project focuses on creating governance models that help regions make better decisions. It works in five regions (Finland, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Poland), each with unique strengths and challenges determined by different levels of innovation maturity.

A key objective is to establish food innovation platforms, collaborative hubs for researchers, businesses, policymakers, and citizens under the Quadruple Helix model. EU-funded VISION4FOOD prioritizes co-creation, with open science and the principles of responsible research and innovation at its core. It tailors its approach with tailored acceleration agendas and local missions, builds networks for knowledge exchange, and assesses progress to create a roadmap for sustainable food systems across Europe.

Description of activities

It prioritizes co-creation, with open science and the principles of responsible research and innovation as its core pillars. It tailors its approach with customized acceleration agendas and local missions. It builds networks for knowledge exchange. It assesses progress to create a guide for sustainable food systems across Europe.

Objectives

VISION4FOOD aims to improve the sustainability and resilience of EU food systems by developing innovative governance models that contribute to better-informed decision-making processes while promoting social engagement and innovation in five European regions (Finland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland) with different levels of innovation ecosystem maturity. Through the project, our regions will receive support to strengthen their role in creating Food Innovation Platforms (FIPs), fostering collaboration among Quadruple Helix stakeholders, and facilitating the identification and scaling up of innovations for food system transformation.

The methodology involves the co-creation of R&I strategies, emphasizing open science and Responsible Research Innovation (RRI). Through VISION4FOOD's multi-stakeholder approach and the integration of tools and services, we will provide all the necessary support for knowledge sharing, networking, and priority setting in the form of an acceleration agenda tailored to the priorities and needs of each region, while facilitating the transition to an innovative and inclusive food system. We will closely monitor and evaluate the performance of the governance models, providing evidence of their impacts.
