Abstract

Cross-border assessment of microbiological quality in sheep artificial insemination centers and its impact on fertility and overall health in the Pyrenean environment

Description

Cross-border assessment of microbiological quality in sheep artificial insemination centers and its impact on fertility and overall health in the Pyrenean environment

Objectives

Identify and characterize, using microbiological and metagenomic approaches, the main antimicrobial resistances (AMR) present in sheep insemination centers on both sides of the border to prevent their spread.

Specific objectives:

  • Identify the main bacterial species and antibiotic resistance present in male sheep of the different Pyrenean breeds present in the artificial insemination centers of the territory, establishing possible improvements for the reduction of antibiotic use.
  • To identify the main bacterial species and anti-resistance present in the reproductive tract of inseminated sheep of the Pyrenean sheep breeds, Rasa Aragonesa, Latxa Cara Negra and Manech, determining their possible spread and effect on fertility.
