Fattening in Galicia
- Type Grupo operativo
- Execution 2016
- Assigned Budget 5.800,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Galicia
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
This Operational Group aims to take advantage of all the added value derived from the fattening, finishing and marketing of meat from dairy breeds, thus promoting a fattening activity as a main activity or as a complement to the income of farms that until now were solely dedicated to milk production.
To do this, it is first necessary to methodologically protocolize the entire process that the initial social exploitation of the Operative Group has been perfecting and putting into practice for years with the fattening, slaughter and annual marketing of more than 3,000 calves so that it serves as a model of maximum efficiency to be followed by future farmers who join this activity.
Once the protocol has been drawn up, all kinds of contacts will be maintained with the farmers in order to gradually implement the activity of fattening Friesian cattle in Galicia and finally a business model will be launched integrating the production and final marketing of the meat for the points of sale.
In addition, farms would be eligible to receive the corresponding slaughter premium for each calf born, raised and slaughtered, which is currently received by fattening farms in other autonomous communities.
