Operational Group: COLLSEROLA Agricultural Contract

Description

One of the main challenges identified and prioritized by small and medium-sized farmers in Collserola, within the framework of the participatory process of Alimentamos Collserola (2016-2019), is to protect the agricultural and livestock systems in Collserola Park that generate local, non-relocatable employment and supply food.

In the participatory development of the "Action Plan to Promote the Agroecological Transition in Collserola in the Period 2018-2025," the strategic line "Promoting the economic, ecological, and social sustainability of professional agricultural production, the incorporation of new farmers, and the recovery of unused lands" was defined as a response to this challenge. It was agreed to develop the agrarian contract as a key action to respond to this challenge. This line of action is being adopted by the farmers and the technical team of Alimentamos Collserola to implement a Collserola Agricultural Contract (CAC) model.

Objectives

The Collserola Agricultural Contract is a payment system that aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Promote and highlight the ecosystem services generated free of charge by the Collserols farmers, which are not directly related to agricultural production.
  • Promote the incorporation of good practices and a sustainable agricultural model consistent with the "Special Plan for the Protection of the Natural Environment and Landscape of the Serra de Collserola Natural Park" (PEPNat Collserola)
  • To compensate small and medium-sized farmers in Collserola Natural Park for their work, which is linked to the provision of ecosystem services to society.
