Nowadays, innovation processes in fruit and vegetable production and distribution are increasingly safer, of higher quality and perfectly traceable, with more optimized life cycles, less waste production and more energy efficient.
These processes, carried out internally in the production companies, require accessibility to the final consumer, given that the latter only receives information, in the best of cases, about the production areas and the nutritional values of the product without considering the innovation processes involved and the commitments to food safety and sustainability.
Through this project, the Operational Group aims to design and test a tool for the intelligent labelling of fruit and vegetable products through the use of ICT accessible to consumers, where data on the agricultural protocols applied would be offered: location of the crop, phytosanitary products used, water and environmental footprint, etc.
Specific actions will be implemented aimed at traceability and transparency that will increase the positive assessment of consumers towards environmentally sustainable agricultural production methods, while promoting differentiation and agri-food quality, working within a framework of completely synergistic cooperation that will integrate all key agents in the value chain.
