Description
This project will explore potential alternatives for valorizing avocado by-products by studying their bioactive compounds, with the goal of developing commercial outlets for them in the nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and other sectors.
Objectives
- Formulate animal feed products from avocado by-products
- Develop high value-added cosmetic/nutraceutical products from avocado by-products
Results
- Dossier with the different types of by-products, the methodology used to obtain them (drying and grinding) and the results of quality/microbiological control
- Development of formulations for feeding specific groups of animals and dossiers with nutritional and quality information, characterization of bioactive compounds contained in the pellets and bioactivity results
- Dossier with information on bioactivity and animal digestibility of each type of by-product/pellet tested
- Dossier with the different types of by-products, the methodology used to obtain them (drying and grinding), and the results of quality control/microbiological testing. Dossier for each of the by-products with the characterization of the bioactive compounds in their extracts and bioactivity results.
- Characterization report of bioactive compounds contained in pilot-scale extracts and bioactivity results
- High added value products with a composition and bioactivity dossier
