Revaluation of Avocado Byproducts in Animal Nutrition, Nutraceuticals and Cosmeceuticals

This project will study the possible alternatives for valorizing avocado by-products by studying their bioactive compounds in order to give them a commercial outlet in the nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, etc. sectors.

Objectives
  • Formulate animal feed products from avocado by-products.
  • Develop high added value cosmetic/nutraceutical products from avocado by-products.
Results
  • Dossier with the different types of by-products, the methodology used to obtain them (drying and grinding) and the quality/microbiological control results.
  • Development of formulations for feeding specific groups of animals and dossier with nutritional and quality information, characterization of bioactive compounds contained in the pellets and bioactivity results.
  • Dossier containing information on the bioactivity and digestibility in animals of each type of by-product/pellet tested.
  • Dossier with the different types of by-products, the methodology used to obtain them (drying and grinding) and the quality/microbiological control results.
  • Dossier for each of the by-products with characterization of bioactive compounds in their extracts and bioactivity results.
  • Characterization report of bioactive compounds contained in pilot-scale extracts and bioactivity results.
  • High added value products with a dossier of composition and bioactivity
