Modification of the conditions of use of the terms 'dry' and 'pale dry' on the labelling of fortified wines
Description
The Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree that modifies the conditions of use of the optional terms dry and pale dry on the labelling of fortified wines.
Until now, the term dry was applicable to liqueur wines with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) , with a sugar content of no more than 45 grams per litre. Meanwhile, pale dry could be used for liqueur wines, also with a PDO, and with a sugar content of less than 45 grams per litre. With the approved modification, the dry designation is eliminated and the margin in the sugar content for pale dry wines is widened, which will now be less than 50 grams per litre.
