The agri-food system plays a major role in the climate crisis. Food losses and waste (FLW) generated throughout the agri-food chain are one of the factors contributing to its social and environmental impact. Furthermore, 26% of Spaniards live in poverty or social exclusion, which generates a moral and ethical debate. It is clear that we need trained workers who understand their role in achieving more sustainable agri-food systems.
(r9)Alimenta is an innovative resource for improving job skills in the green economy and sustainable food systems, through free training and advisory services for workers in Murcia and Andalusia.
The project aims to train 36 workers from Andalusia and Murcia who have an idea or challenge in mind to improve the sustainability of the food system through their jobs. To this end, a 20-hour online training program is proposed, providing skills in the creation and implementation of green improvement strategies based on food loss and waste prevention. This program also provides students with knowledge of regulations, strategies, and financing options related to this issue.
The training is also complemented by a six-hour individual consultation. This training aims to assist in the design and implementation of FLW prevention actions in the agri-food sector, both at the level of companies, public administrations, and social organizations.
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION: Murcia and Andalusia
TARGETED AT: Workers in the agri-food sector, social organizations, and public administration in Murcia and Andalusia. Preference will be given to individuals belonging to any of the following population groups: young people up to 35 years old; people over 45 years old; immigrants; people with disabilities; residents of protected areas and rural zones; and women.
The program's objective is to provide skills and knowledge to workers in the agri-food sector, social organizations, and public administration regarding their role in achieving more sustainable food systems. Specifically, it will train them on the issues of food loss and waste and how to reduce them throughout the entire agri-food chain.
