Biodiversity Foundation Project: The Legacy of the Volcanic Vineyard

Description

The project stems from a need for generational renewal in the wine industry in the Fuencaliente region. Most of the farmers currently working the vineyards are over 70 years old, and many have already retired and have not found a successor, leaving many vineyards unused.

Therefore, the wine sector is currently suffering from low production and the inability to combine multiple plots of land for more efficient cultivation. Furthermore, the trend is that, in a few years, there will be no one skilled in the art of cultivating these distinctive vines, seriously jeopardizing the survival of the species.

The project aims to address both issues and promote strategic improvements in vine cultivation, seeking to secure the short-term future and begin building the recovery of the species and the wine sector in the area. In addition to training activities, participants will receive personalized advice.
