TRUFAQUA Operational Group: Optimization of irrigation in truffle cultivation through its adaptation to the development of the black truffle
- Type Operational group
- Status In progress
- Execution 2025 -2028
- Assigned Budget 150.000,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Aragón
- Main source of financing CAP 2023-2027
The TRUFAQUA project is expected to generate findings on efficient irrigation management in truffle plantations using Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. Predictive models are planned to estimate water needs based on historical and field data, including climate, soil, and tree parameters, allowing for optimized irrigation, reduced water consumption, and improved truffle production and quality.
Tools will also be developed for the automated capture, transformation, and analysis of data, integrating information from diverse sources and providing accurate indicators of crop health and water efficiency. Furthermore, technical materials and protocols will be created to facilitate knowledge transfer, improving farm management, traceability, and sustainability.
The findings will validate the feasibility of applying advanced technologies in truffle cultivation, demonstrating their potential to optimize resources, increase profitability and improve productive performance under variable climatic conditions.
The TRUFAQUA project is expected to generate concrete findings on efficient irrigation management in truffle plantations through the integration of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. Among the anticipated results are predictive models that identify irrigation needs based on historical and field data, tools that optimize water use and improve truffle production and quality, and software capable of automatically capturing, transforming, and analyzing information.
Furthermore, the generation of training materials and protocols is anticipated to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to farmers, allowing for more precise and efficient decision-making, increasing the profitability, sustainability and traceability of farms, and promoting more innovative truffle cultivation practices adapted to changing climatic conditions.
These findings will validate the feasibility of applying advanced technologies in the agricultural management of truffles and will demonstrate their potential to optimize resources and improve measurable production results.
- Definition and development of the TRUFAQUA platform: Analysis of the irrigation management needs in truffle plantations, definition of system requirements, development of the computer architecture, creation of the user interface and integration of external data from sensors and other sources.
- Development of a certification and traceability system: Creation of a certification module based on blockchain technology to guarantee the traceability of the truffles sold and to assess its viability within the system.
- Capture and processing of plantation data: Collection of field data using sensors and monitoring systems, transformation and normalization of the data for subsequent analysis and use in the project models.
- Development and validation of artificial intelligence models for irrigation: Application of data analysis and machine learning techniques to develop models that allow the analysis and prediction of irrigation needs in truffle plantations, optimizing crop quality and water use.
- Knowledge transfer and dissemination of results: Development of training materials (video tutorials and guides), creation of a website and social networks for the project, and organization of conferences and events to disseminate the results and facilitate their application by truffle growers.
The project aims to develop an innovative system for managing truffle plantations more efficiently and sustainably, optimizing water resources and ensuring complete traceability of black truffles using blockchain technology. It will integrate historical and field data, advanced analytics with Big Data and Machine Learning, and an intuitive interface that facilitates the management of all information, supporting strategic decisions and significantly improving efficiency and quality from production to the end consumer.
