Description
This Task Force seeks to encourage farmers to adopt innovative measures that will reduce their energy bills for irrigation and optimize water consumption, in order to ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the sugar beet sector following the abolition of the quota system in Europe in 2017 and the end of the current CAP period in 2020.
Objectives
- These surveys could reduce irrigation energy costs by 60 to 75%, but could be extrapolated to other irrigated crops where irrigation costs represent a high percentage of production costs.
