This Operating Group aims to design and develop a bean peeling machine that allows 100% of the legume to be used, avoiding product losses and therefore the associated costs. The automation of bean peeling involves a technological development in the agro-industry, since at present the bean peeling process is carried out by hand, which is a laborious activity, with a high time commitment, and therefore an associated cost that is reflected in the market price.
Broad beans are in high demand on the market, so it is necessary to automate the peeling process, which will benefit producers by increasing the selling price compared to unpeeled broad beans. On the other hand, the need for individual producers to mechanize this process makes a broad bean peeling machine more in demand, which increases their income by producing a larger quantity in less time.
Currently, the bean peeling process is carried out with machinery that spoils the product by 10% to 15%, so an attempt is being made to find a machine that makes use of 100% of the bean.
