FERTIPORC Operational Group

The objective of this Operational Group is:

Implement the sprinkler irrigation system using full coverage or a cannon using the liquid fraction of the pig slurry. Once the liquid fraction has been characterized according to the source of the pig slurry, the irrigation dose is varied while simultaneously testing different coverage irrigation times and the speed of the cannon.

To carry out this project, large areas of crops commonly grown in Galicia, such as cereals (wheat and corn), grasslands, and new, fast-growing, biomass-producing tree crops, are being revitalized. Using slurry as fertilizer is the most logical and profitable solution. Proper management and handling will allow slurry to be considered a resource, not a waste product. This type of irrigation using the liquid portion of pig slurry seeks a more efficient application system that results in a more uniform delivery to the soil.
