Increasing milk production with energy-efficient lighting systems

The aim of the project is to apply and demonstrate in dairy farms in Galicia that the design of the farm lighting system using long-day lighting cycles with cattle exposed to 150-200 Lux for 16-18 hours has a direct impact on cow milk production, increasing it by up to 8-15%, as well as affecting the electricity bill. These results have already been demonstrated on farms in Michigan (USA), but their application in Spain is unknown.
