Description
A GIS tool will be designed and implemented to support decision-making for extensive livestock management and pasture management, combining pasture monitoring with remote sensing and livestock monitoring with GPS.
Objectives
- Define the tool's functionalities based on the needs of technicians, farmers and managers, and the available technical and scientific possibilities.
- Having information, in almost real time, on the state and evolution of vegetation
- Comparison with previous years and forecast
- Facilitate and improve the work of livestock farmers, knowing at all times the position of the livestock and the condition of the pastures.
- Train technicians in the use of Geographic Information Technologies and in the use of the tool
- To enhance the transfer of knowledge in the area of GIT and inform potential beneficiaries about the project.
Results
- Operational tool that meets the needs of technicians, ranchers and managers
- System specifications and best available techniques
- Better decision-making in forest management and livestock management
- Cost savings in livestock production through greater control over key aspects of their operations
- Have the appropriate training to understand and use the tool
- Involvement of potential beneficiaries and research organizations in the design of the tool
