- Type Operational group
- Execution 2016
- Assigned Budget 6.000,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Galicia
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
Description
This Operational Group was created to recover and improve the high pastures of the Sierra de los Ancares, as well as to use traditional grazing techniques and promote their use by livestock farmers.
Mountain pastures were historically used to feed native beef cattle during the summer, but their use is currently declining. This system has a direct impact on improving mountain ecosystems in terms of biodiversity, vegetation cover, and fire protection in an area of very high environmental value. It also increases the value of meat produced using this type of pasture and promotes the economy of a region clearly experiencing depopulation.
