Biokm0 Operational Group: Nutrient recovery and reuse in local crops for the development of the circular bioeconomy in local communities
- Type Operational group
- Execution 2018
- Assigned Budget 98.068,77 €
- Scope Supraautonómico
- Autonomous community Aragón; Cataluña; Navarra, Comunidad Foral de; Rioja, La
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
The BioKm0 GO proposal is based on a well-recognized problem in the autonomous communities of Aragon and Catalonia: the risk to the coexistence of livestock and agricultural activities due to the problem of nitrate pollution caused by the "raw" application of manure to crops, which leads to the accumulation of excess nutrients in agricultural land.
The proposed solution, and the general objective of the project, is to develop and validate a comprehensive farm management model for rational fertilization through the use of local organic and organo-mineral fertilizers made from livestock manure and other types of biomass available in the area, which guarantees the coexistence between both activities and in turn generates value for the agricultural sector, while allowing a reduction in mineral fertilization.
- Generation and development of technological alternatives for the recovery and reuse of nutrients in local crops from cattle and pig manure, implementing the principles of the circular bioeconomy at a local scale in a process of social innovation that allows production chains to adapt to the requirements of 21st-century Europe.
