To study the genomic information transmitted by early-growing Merino stallions regarding fleece quality (GO Filotat)
The objectives of the Operational Group are to study the evolution of wool growth in a complete reproductive cycle of the flocks and to analyse the management factors that have the greatest influence.
The aim is to locate the breaking points of the fibre due to changes in the diet or high parasitic loads of the animals, in order to obtain the definition of the appropriate reference values.
The improvement of wool is also sought through the application of a quantitative protocol for the selection of males, as well as the genomic identification of major action markers related to quantitative and qualitative aspects of wool production.
