REPOBLEX Operational Group: Good practices and ICTs to optimize the use of holm oak and cork oak reforestation in Extremadura

This proposal seeks several objectives:

• Organize the data available on these repopulations into a single geographic information system that allows for the production of specific reports and maps.
• Conduct a regional-scale inventory that will allow us to accurately determine the level of development of these repopulations, and to be able to model and forecast future events, so that optimal decisions can be made regarding these repopulations at the regional level.
• Create a Manual of Good Practices for Holm Oak and Cork Oak Reforestation, which will provide owners with general guidelines for managing their reforestation areas.
• Apply new information and communication technologies to improve forest sampling in reforestation areas, so that reforestation owners and managers can have precise knowledge of their operations, plan future forestry projects, and understand the forecast for forest utilization on their properties.
• To facilitate forestry companies' forest inventory, planning, and harvesting work using new information and communication technologies, enabling them to optimize their resources and offer a more efficient and cost-effective service to the regional forestry sector.

We believe this proposal has a fairly high degree of innovation, facilitating access to ICTs for owners, managers, companies, and forestry technicians in Extremadura. The software application developed can be implemented on a smartphone, so all these users will have a powerful tool at their fingertips that will allow them to optimize their decision-making and the implementation of holm oak and cork oak reforestation projects in Extremadura.
