The innovative project for processing useful data in cooperative production processes is a project designed to address the cooperatives' need for the use of all the information generated from the annual declarations made by producers.
The DUN is a very powerful tool, which systematically captures and updates a large amount of data.
The project being presented focuses on the systematic, classified, and curated generation of documents containing strategic information that will be useful to the primary production sector, cooperatives, primary and secondary processing industries, and the FCAC.
Detailed knowledge, based on real, organized, and systematized data, of the productive structure of each of the farms in the affiliated cooperatives is the basis for making the best possible strategic decisions.
The main objectives of this project are:
- Descriptive analysis of the annual data generated by the DUN in order to assess the potential interest of the cooperative sector.
- Identify strategic decisions that could benefit from this information, define a platform that integrates this information, and define other public databases that complement it.
For all this, Big Data analysis and data mining methods will be used.
Another objective of this project is to explore the creation of new business models to generate new services aimed at facilitating decision-making for cooperative managers and producers. The analysis of the different levels of data confidentiality and their use will be carried out in accordance with data protection legislation.
Thanks to the work carried out, a commitment has been reached to create an operational group, with cooperatives representing the different productive sectors and the University of Lleida (UdL) as a research center.
This task force has defined the objectives and work plan for a project to be implemented over the 2018-2020 period, with the goal of addressing the need to leverage all the information systematically generated by the DUN to improve strategic decisions in the cooperative sector.
