REMAIN Operational Group: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions through on-site acidification of fattening cattle manure

Creation of an Operational Group to draft a pilot project based on preliminary studies to define a post-digestive fecal management strategy that minimizes nitrogen (ammonia and nitrous oxide volatilization) and carbon (methane) losses.

Furthermore, this project will increase knowledge about nitrogen volatilization (specifically its release as nitrous oxide), the gas emission of manure during fattening, and the litter effect, as well as its storage. It also aims to find a strategy that is optimal for both gases, since methane is formed under anaerobic conditions, and the formation of nitrous dioxide increases when manure is aerated.
