Innovation in livestock manure management

Description

The new fertilisation model that the Department of Agriculture is currently developing will establish new obligations in the management of manure, some of which are already in force, and which will undoubtedly imply a change in the current operation of livestock manure management.

Objectives

The aim is to consolidate an operational group to carry out pilot projects to validate the innovations that are considered most useful for the existing challenges:

  • GDN application: to develop and modify management plans.
Preliminary annual declaration (PAD). It will replace management plans.
  • Annual declaration of completed management (DAR): It will replace the management books and the annual report.
  • Treatment of manure: mandatory for farms located in ZADER areas (> 25,000 kg N).
  • GPS and automatic data logging: transport over 10 km.
  • Applications: conditions for the application of the liquid fraction in irrigation.
  • Machinery: Obligation of hanging tubes, conductivity meter and calibration record.
  • Composting: allows capacity reduction up to 25%.
  • N reduction through feeding.
  • Management centres: they will replace joint plans
