Description

Active climate control inside greenhouses is an unquestionable factor when it comes to increasing fruit and vegetable production and optimising its commercial supply periods.

Given that the current basis for energy supply associated with this climate control is based on conventional sources and given the potential for growth in consumption associated with the above circumstances, the implementation of efficient energy systems and the promotion of specific renewable alternatives in this area must be a priority objective.

This project will study the use of 3 technologies for thermal input to greenhouses derived from national and international reference projects:

  • Condensing boilers fuelled by biomass and biofuels with agronomic reuse of combustion gases.
  • Geothermal heat pumps electrically activated by solar photovoltaic energy.
  • Advanced solar thermal collectors (concentrators and UHV-Ultra High Vacuum).

The Task Force covers the following areas of work for the three technologies:

  • Demand and market assessment.
  • Definition of specific technical solutions.
  • Technical-economic analysis.
  • Start-up and analysis of a pilot installation (of at least one of them).

This project meets and contributes to the AEI objective, Sustainable Management of Resources.
