Description

Creation of an Operational Group with diverse and multidisciplinary representation of the agents involved in the chestnut sector that, in a coordinated manner, acts and innovates in the chestnut sector to improve its production, its fruit, its harvesting, processing and its marketing network, as well as the extrapolation of results to other chestnut-growing areas of the Andalusian community.

Objectives
  • Diagnose the current and potential status of chestnut trees: Update the census of distribution and surface area of the crop. Analyze the phytosanitary status of the crop. Analyze the production and productive efficiency of chestnut trees. Analyze the marketing network for chestnuts and processed products. Evaluate the environmental factors that affect the conservation of chestnut trees and chestnut production.
  • Improve harvesting, production, processing and marketing. Obtain chestnut products throughout the entire agri-food process that are more competitive with the least possible environmental impact. Transform the fruit into new products and open up new avenues for gastronomic marketing. Improve the transfer of knowledge between the scientific community and the agri-food production sector. Mediate between the different social sectors that have conflicting interests in order to improve their interrelationship.
