We present this project carried out by the Agrupamento Vertical de Escolas schools of Cristelo (Portugal), Scuola immacolata of Novara (Italy), Collège du Plantaurel of Cazères (France) and Colegio Aurelio Gómez Escolar of Burgos (Spain).
Following a self-assessment process, one of the main objectives is to promote European culture and unity, as well as student integration through group work with multivariate students from the European Community. The project's work and coordination team is made up of teachers, encompassing groups of students from the 3rd year of ESO (Spanish students aged 14-15), students of the same age from the Collège du Plantaurel de Cazeres (France), 3rd year of scuola media (Italian students aged 12-13-14), and 9th year of compulsory education (Portuguese students aged 14-15), a group supervised by the team and school management of the centers described. The Spanish school where the project is developed is located on the outskirts of Burgos; the Portuguese school is in the small town of Cristelo, near Porto; The French school is in a small town in the Haute Garonne region; and the Italian school is in Novara, a medium-sized town in Piedmont. These are, therefore, four schools with a similar social and cultural environment.
The project is an experience that seeks to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in students. Students will create a winemaking company that will oversee aspects of winemaking, as well as economic, administrative, and legal aspects. Students will be divided into work groups, made up of students from the four schools, each covering a specific area of knowledge. The objectives of each area are linked to the curriculum of each subject, and the work is completed and assessed according to its own assessment criteria. Classroom presentations and the publication of work online will help students acquire knowledge beyond their area of study. Furthermore, the areas are completely interrelated, and the assessment of core competencies will be used to evaluate the skills acquired by students. Within the project, there is a common area in which all students will be assessed: English. The project will be divided into five areas within the five work areas: Biology, Technology, Mathematics, ICT, and Entrepreneurship. Internships and activities associated with each of the areas will be developed; Students must acquire the corresponding concepts in the curricular project to adequately develop their work. The concepts will be acquired in the classroom, taught by teachers, through research, information provided by their peers, and student reading comprehension, always supervised by the teachers responsible for the subjects. Finally, the design is emphasized, motivating students at risk of academic failure (the practical approach of the project) and aimed at facilitating the opening of the four centers and the students' departure to Europe, something currently only available to a minority of students. The project is encouraging, participatory, and entrepreneurial.
1. The student will be part of a working group with students from other countries, exchanging information and knowledge, with the goal of seeking new teaching methodologies and learning environments.
2. Group work seeks, as a cross-cutting objective, to create an environment conducive to coexistence.
3. The work will be carried out in a network, seeking decisive support in information technologies.
4. This work will be conducted primarily in English, both in the videoconferences and in almost all of the work produced. Students will be encouraged to use Facebook and WhatsApp.
5. A blog will be created to publish all the multimedia material developed.
6. A project linked to the core areas will be generated, also promoting entrepreneurship among students.
7. The project will be linked to several areas of knowledge, so it will require the supervision of several teachers from the four educational centers.
8. Students will be assessed based on the work required.
9. The project will have several evaluation systems.
10. The educational community, comprised of teachers, management, students, and their parents, will have up-to-date information about the project through the project blog and the educational centers' websites.
