- Autonomous community Andalucía
- Project website GO TOMAGROUP
Description of activities
- Review of the state of the art regarding macroalgae species present on the Andalusian coast.
- Development of the extract with biostimulant potential.
- Collection and shipping of tomato waste.
- Screening of the biostimulant potential of extract prototypes through in vitro testing.
- Phytotoxicity evaluation of extract prototypes.
- Economic estimate of the production of each extract prototype.
- Selection of the extract prototype and the range of concentrations to be tested in biostimulant products.
- Formulation, production and characterization of biostimulant products.
- Collection and shipping of tomato waste.
- Pilot scale-up of the selected process for producing the extract with biostimulant potential.
- Development, formulation and production of biostimulant products (2 prototypes).
- Validation of the biostimulant potential of the extract obtained at pilot scale and of the biostimulant products in a model plant.
- Selection of the frequency and type of application of the biostimulants to be evaluated in the field trial.
- Characterization of the liquid extract and products with biostimulant potential that will be applied in the field study.
- Evaluation of the biostimulant potential of “TOMAGROUP” products in field trials.
- Preparation of the experimental plots and planting of tomato plants.
- Crop growth (tomato) and application of selected biostimulants to plants.
- Evaluation of environmental and soil conditions, crop growth and yield under each treatment.
- Application of omics technologies for the comparative field study of selected treatments.
- Evaluation of the physical, chemical, nutritional quality and health potential of the fruits under each treatment.
- Selection of the biostimulant product(s) with industrial interest and the most appropriate type of application.
- Drafting partial reports and final project report.
- Divulgation
Objectives
Valorization of the byproduct generated during the production of salmorejo and gazpacho. These biostimulant products will be designed to improve the growth, yield, and quality of tomato crops, promoting the bioeconomy and circular fertilization of this crop.
