The Azafarm project seeks to design a portable module for controlled vertical saffron cultivation, with the goal of increasing rural incomes through production diversification.
Expected results: Production of high-quality saffron, adaptation to climate change, efficient use of resources through hydroponics, and increased crop density.
Practical recommendations: Adopting the module will stabilize production, reduce labor costs, optimize yield, reduce environmental impact, and diversify income. The module's portability facilitates its installation in various rural areas. The module is expected to allow for multiple harvests without climatic influences.
The AZAFARM project focuses on optimizing saffron cultivation by creating a portable, controlled vertical cultivation module. The trials, both in the field and indoors, aim to maximize flowering and growth under various conditions. The results are expected to demonstrate the feasibility of producing high-quality saffron more efficiently and seasonally.
The implementation of this module would allow farmers to adapt to climate change, reduce labor costs, and diversify their income, ensuring stable, high-quality production. Furthermore, a reduction in environmental impact is expected through the efficient use of resources in a hydroponic system. The module's portability makes it easy to adapt to different rural environments.
The AZAFARM project aims to address the decline in saffron cultivation due to a lack of technology and labor. A portable module will be developed for vertical hydroponic cultivation, controlling climatic conditions to optimize production and quality. This will allow farmers to diversify their income, reduce dependence on weather factors, and improve resource efficiency.
