Description

Develop a new integrated disease, pest, and weed control program that streamlines the use of plant protection products and increases the availability of plant protection products for cherry trees.

Objectives
  • The overall objective of this innovative project is to design and develop a new integrated pest and disease control program for cherry crops, with the goal of bringing it into compliance with Directive 2009/128/EC.
  • The specific objectives are:
    • Design a new integrated pest and disease control program for cherry cultivation in Extremadura and Aragon.
    • Promote the availability and registration of new phytosanitary products.
    • Demonstration of the new integrated pest and disease control program for cherry trees in Extremadura and Aragon.
    • Analyze the results and conclusions
Results

The expected results of the FITOSCEREZO Operational Group, after achieving the objectives are:

  • To develop methods for estimating pest and disease risk, decision-making support systems, and determining intervention thresholds and timing for pest and disease control in cherry cultivation in Extremadura and Aragon.
  • To determine new preventive and/or curative management systems for pests and diseases in cherry cultivation in Extremadura and Aragon.
  • New phytosanitary products are available and registered for cherry cultivation in Spain.
  • New systems for determining residues of selected phytosanitary products in cherries.
  • Demonstration trials of the new integrated pest and disease control program for cherry cultivation in Extremadura and Aragon.
  • Economic assessment of the impact of the new program as well as its effect on biodiversity, the environment, and waste.
  • Report of results and conclusions of project activities.
