Description

Develop an intelligent and autonomous agricultural management system that determines the optimal harvest date for each crop, improving the competitiveness of primary producers in the food chain.

Objectives
  • Develop a management system for agricultural holdings using thermal and humidity integration to manage their stock of live and perishable products by scheduling the harvesting process.
  • Minimize product loss due to perishability, achieving efficient use of resources and using alternative water for irrigation.
  • Conduct a study of pesticide dissipation curves as a tool to optimize the treatments applied to crops and to analyze the evolution of pesticide residues and soil bioremediation.
  • Develop new industrial processing techniques that minimise the fragility of vegetables and maximise the shelf life and food safety of the fresh-cut product through vacuum cooling, washing and air drying.
Results
  • Increased crop productivity, reduced time to assess crop status, optimisation of phytosanitary/fertiliser treatments and irrigation management.
  • Reduction of water consumption and fertilizer use and definition of optimal irrigation water conditions, ensuring the absence of pesticide residues.
  • Increasing soil fertility on farms using organic fertilization strategies and biochar amendments.
  • Development of a sustainable industrial washing process by searching for chlorine substitutes and optimizing the production parameters of the industrial process.
