Description
The energy potential of poultry sector droppings will be used to obtain thermal energy and/or electricity that can be used on farms. In addition, other by-products with high added value will be obtained.
Objectives
- Optimize a natural and/or forced drying method for poultry manure/peacock manure that allows farms to achieve the appropriate conditions for their energy recovery.
- Develop a burner adapted to chicken manure/swan manure that allows the sector to recover the thermal energy contained in the starting manure
- Optimize combustion conditions to minimize emissions and deposition from poultry farms in accordance with current regulations.
- Quantify the reduction in energy costs of farms through the use of thermal energy
- Characterize the ashes obtained in the process and evaluate their potential for agronomic valorization and the environmental impact of the proposed actions.
- Transfer of project results
Results
- Reduction of more than 20% in the moisture content of the starting biofuel
- Recovery of more than 50% of the thermal energy contained in the initial wastewater
- Development of an optimized combustion system for use in the poultry sector
- Increased savings in heating and electricity costs using manure
- Development of a protocol for the agricultural use of ashes produced during combustion
- Dissemination and transfer of project results to target sectors through publications in technical and scientific journals, events and webinars, regional, national and international conferences, press publications, news and content on websites
