The three most important points of a sustainable company
Description
In an increasingly busy world and society, the competitiveness of large companies is no longer only based on their logistics and quality of products or services. Sustainability has come to determine the user's choice on several occasions.
After a survey carried out by PwC on a total of more than 30,000 people around the world, it was found that more than 60% prioritized environmental or sustainability policies when choosing a brand.
This has mobilized large companies to increasingly deal with tasks such as reducing the carbon footprint, digitalization or the use of renewable energy. In fact, according to another survey, nine out of ten Spanish companies are taking sustainability measures .
Let's see below what are some of the most significant measures that are being implemented.
1. Carbon Footprint Offsetting
It is one of the most important sustainability actions that a company can acquire, and the one that makes the most difference regarding the care of the planet and resources.
Offsetting the carbon footprint includes several small actions , which together produce real changes.
Among these small measures we find, for example: the replacement of automotive fleets with vehicles with electric motors or the purchase of raw materials from local suppliers. In such a way that transport distances are as short as possible.
You can also go further, some examples of this are: the use of renewable energy incorporating solar panels or even reforestation. In this last example, the Helios Group , whose companies are packaging producers, is developing, together with its facilities in Valladolid, the Helios Forest . A native reforestation of more than 5,000 m2 that will be capable of absorbing nothing more and nothing less than about 500,000 tons of CO2 . Without a doubt, an initiative that will have a high impact on the care of ecology.
2. The Circular Economy
Definitely, the circular economy is something that should be applied to all types of companies, regardless of their size. In a simpler way, we could say that the circular economy is based on “reuse” or “recycle” , aiming to ensure that the product is not thrown away, but is reused as raw material within this production circle.
The circular economy not only has great benefits for the environment , but also at a business level : it minimizes costs, attracts investments and aligns with the 2030 Agenda, among many other advantages.
3. Work Conciliation, Flexibility and Digitalization
These items are already being applied by at least 60% of large Spanish companies.
In this section we find factors such as teleworking and flexible hours , which grew exponentially during the 2019 pandemic.
Digitalization is also something easy to implement if it has not been done yet, and generates a lot of sustainability in a company: it reduces costs, minimizes environmental impact, increases productivity, improves internal management and reinforces the brand image.
If you have not yet started the process of converting your company to a truly sustainable one, it is time to start , since the preference of your consumers and your future business alliances will depend on it.
