The SOST4VID project installs agrovoltaic panels at the As Laxas winery, taking a new step toward sustainable viticulture.
Description
The SOST4VID project, led by the Galician Agricultural Association (ASAGA) in collaboration with SOLTEC Ingenieros, EVEGA, MEDRAR Innovation Office, and the As Laxas and Guímaro wineries, has reached a new milestone with the installation of agrovoltaic solar panels in the As Laxas vineyards (Arbo, Pontevedra).
The panels, installed above the vines, allow light to pass through for the crops and are accompanied by sensors that monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, wind, and rainfall. The goal is to evaluate the impact of this technology on the winery's cultivation, production, and energy efficiency.
During an informative day at the estate, the consortium shared progress on the project, which will run until the end of 2026. SOST4VID is part of the AGACAL and EAFRD innovation grants within the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027, and seeks to offer replicable solutions to improve the sustainability and profitability of vineyards, especially in heroic viticulture areas such as the Ribeira Sacra.
