Isabel Bombal: Innovation and digitalization will facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable agriculture

The general director of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training of the central government has assured that innovation and digitalization of the entire value chain of the agri-food sector are key instruments to promote competitiveness, sustainability and traceability.
During her speech at the inauguration of the VIII National Rural Development Forum, which is held within the framework of the 42nd edition of the International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA), at Feria Zaragoza, Isabel Bombal highlighted that modernization and the incorporation of Technological and digital innovations in agri-food production will enable the necessary transition towards more sustainable and efficient agriculture and livestock , in line with the recommendations of the new EU Green Deal and its Farm to Fork Strategy, reported the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in a press release.
The general director has mentioned the spending allocated to innovation in the agri-food sector, 845 million euros in 2020, with a growing evolution in recent years due to the interest in this area within European and national R+ policies. D+i (Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe), in the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and in the recovery plans.
