Castilla-La Mancha and DeRaza Ibérico agreement to manage the Dehesón del Encinar Agricultural Research Center of the IRIAF

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha and the Talavera-based company DeRaza Iberico have signed a collaboration agreement to manage the Dehesón del Encinar Agricultural Research Center , which is part of the IRIAF, for the next five years.
The agreement's main objectives are:
- Improve the two original strains of Iberian pigs from Dehesón, Torbiscal and Guadyerbas, in collaboration with INIA-CSIC.
- Create a Dehesa Laboratory focused on research and development of this agricultural and forestry system.
- To highlight the importance of the dehesa as a model of sustainability, innovation, and conservation of Iberian pigs.
The Regional Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán, has emphasized the importance of this public-private collaboration, which will generate knowledge, innovate, and strengthen the regional livestock sector .
He also expressed his gratitude for the work carried out since 2017 by the Sánchez Romero Carvajal company, whose previous participation contributed to the conservation of the dehesa and the production of research work, including an ongoing doctoral thesis.
