Olive Oil Technical Conference 2025, a key meeting point for the cooperative sector

On November 3rd and 4th , the Hotel Córdoba Center will host the 2025 Olive Oil Technical Conference , organized by Spanish Agri-food Cooperatives in collaboration with Andalusian Agri-food Cooperatives . This annual event, a key gathering for the cooperative olive oil sector, will bring together experts, institutional representatives, and olive growers to discuss the sector's main challenges and opportunities.
The program will address essential issues such as European policies , market regulation , sustainability , quality and generational renewal in olive groves.
The first day (November 3) will include presentations by:
- Koen Dillen , Head of the Arable Crops and Olive Oil Unit at the European Commission , on “The future of EU policy in the olive oil sector” .
- Paz Fentes Piñeiro , Deputy Director General of MAPA , with the presentation “Measures for market balance in the olive oil sector. Regulation of article 167 bis” .
Two round tables will be held in the afternoon:
- “Quality and excellence strategy in olive oil” , moderated by Rafael Sánchez de Puerta , president of the Olive Oil Sector of Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain.
- “Cooperative initiatives for generational change and maintenance of activity in the olive grove” , moderated by Gabriel Trenzado , general director of the organization.
During the conference, the progress of the European project thERBN , focused on the management of bio-waste and by-products in olive mills , will also be presented, as well as the results of the “Comparative study of production systems in olive groves” , developed within the framework of the TECO Networks , which analyzes the efficiency and sustainability of different production models.
The meeting will conclude on Tuesday, November 4th with technical visits to the Germplasm Bank of the University of Córdoba and the Virgen del Campo Olive Growers Cooperative (Cañete de las Torres), where innovative experiences and examples of good practices in the olive oil sector will be showcased.
