Description

Organized by the Polytechnic University of Madrid , this course is part of the Digitalization Strategy for the Agri-Food and Forestry Sector and the Rural Environment promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , which seeks to eliminate or reduce the technical, legislative, economic and training barriers that exist in the digital transformation process. It aims to contribute to the leadership of an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable agri-food sector, as well as to the active population of rural areas, to create a more attractive, vibrant, dynamic and diversified rural environment, generating wealth and quality employment, with special attention to young people and women.

The course will allow participants to learn about the main precision livestock farming technologies, both in intensive and extensive livestock farming, dedicated to the massive acquisition of data, ideally on individual animals, to improve decision-making by the various stakeholders in the sector, aiming to improve production efficiency, environmental impact, and animal health and welfare. The course will present existing commercial solutions and the main lines of research and innovation in the pre-commercial phase. Furthermore, the procedures for collecting, transmitting, and analyzing data from sensors will be critically evaluated, in order to establish the advantages and limitations of the different technologies, enabling students to select the most appropriate technologies for each case in their professional practice.
