Description

The University of Córdoba is organizing the online course "Copernicus Program: Cloud Computing of Satellite Images for Decision-Making in Agriculture" from October 6 to 16, 2025. The course is aimed at professionals and technicians in the agri-food sector interested in using advanced digital tools to improve agricultural management. Registration will remain open until October 5, 2025 (or until capacity is reached).

This course is part of the Digitalization Strategy for the Agri-Food, Forestry, and Rural Sector , promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. This strategy seeks to eliminate barriers and foster a sustainable, innovative, and attractive sector, with a special focus on young people and rural women .

Course objectives

The program will allow participants to:

  • Learn about the uses of the Copernicus Earth Observation Programme .
  • Learn how to extract information from satellite images using cloud computing .
  • Working on the Google Earth Engine platform for agricultural data analysis.
  • Develop skills in remote sensing, web services, and the use of satellite databases.

Main contents (online sessions from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

  • 06/10: Fundamentals of remote sensing and image analysis.
  • 07/10: Earth observation programs (Landsat, Copernicus, Sentinel).
  • 08-09/10: Using SNAP and web observation services. Introduction to Google Earth Engine.
  • 10/13: Basic Earth Engine: image handling and algebraic operations.
  • 14-15/10: Intermediate Earth Engine: image collections, time series and vegetation indices.
  • 10/16: Advanced Earth Engine: Creating and Publishing Interactive Web Applications.
