The Phoenix Project is an exchange that seeks to help and enhance the catharsis and rebirth that the current situation has provoked in today's youth. How have you experienced the events brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and how do you plan to process them? Like the mythological Phoenix, you are invited to rise from the ashes with renewed strength to move forward with a different, healthy lifestyle in line with the reality you are forced to live today. The project is being developed in Spain, at Finca Santa Clara, Brihuega, where The Banyan Tree association is based. The goal is for young people, using their own resources, to present alternatives to this imminent reality manifesting itself in our cities through various presentations and workshops. The goal is to focus on the option of developing a more open life, with fewer restrictions and new economic opportunities, in a more rural environment. The world promises to be a different place from now on. Wearing a mask is now mandatory, and working from home is almost as much. To top it all off, countries are preparing for a second wave, and perhaps a second lockdown. A rural setting offers an option that cities don't have; confinement is no longer in an apartment block but in a much more open space, working from home can be done perfectly from a rural location, and the risk of contagion is considerably reduced. Europe, historically, has always been dependent on products from rural areas. It is currently experiencing overpopulation in urban areas, leaving the beautiful European countryside empty. Perhaps it is time to return to our origins, with the wisdom learned in the city and the freedom and opportunities that a rural life offers.
The activity will take place at Finca Santa Clara, from July 5th to 10th. Participants will be from Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, and Sweden. Each country has chosen a workshop that is relevant and applicable to their own country, as well as applicable to other nationalities.
The first workshop, "Stylish Living in the Countryside," by the Belgian group, aims to identify participants' preconceived ideas about what it means to live in a rural setting. The Spanish group's workshop, "COVID-19, What Has It Done to Us?", seeks to confront the new world we find ourselves in and determine the psychological consequences of the pandemic, as well as how it can hinder our personal development if we don't develop the capacity to adapt.
The next workshop, "Communication and Sales Are the Same Thing," from the Czech Republic, will show participants the different communication channels available today and how to transform them into sales channels for products or services. In the afternoon, the Swedish group will present its workshop, "Online Business: The New Way of Thinking," which will explain the structure of a business and how it should operate in the online world. Sales and marketing strategies will be discussed, as well as business implementation.
On the morning of the third day, the Norwegian group will present the "Manage Your Community" workshop, where they will explain the advantages and opportunities of becoming a Community Manager, as well as the career opportunities it offers. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Brihuega's historic center is planned, which will include the lavender fields and the Arab caves dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries.
The following day, the Slovenian group will present the workshop "What the Land Can Do for You," with the aim of demonstrating the various simple agricultural techniques that can be developed to lead a healthy and simple life without the need for large cities.
In the afternoon, the Lithuanian group will present the workshop "The Amazon Rainforest," which will introduce the world of Amazon and the benefits and possibilities of becoming an Amazon partner and using it as a sales and advertising platform.
The next workshop will be presented by the Polish group "Google Your Way Out," where they will introduce Google as a marketing and sales tool and showcase the various tools it offers to new entrepreneurs in the digital sector.
In the afternoon, the play "100 Years of the Pandemic" will be presented. This will be a joint performance by the Spanish and Swedish groups, addressing the concerns and changes that the pandemic is causing in modern life. The script is being developed by participants from both groups.
The latest workshop, led by the Hungarian group "Market + Digits," aims to show how the world of digital marketing works, resulting in job opportunities without having to live in a big city.
In the afternoon, there will be a closing session to conclude the activity, where all experiences will be processed, achievements will be shared, and how to implement what they have learned upon returning to their home countries will be discussed. The Youthpass certificate, presented and written, will be presented. During the activity, each association will share a meal from their country. Spain, as the host country, will designate its youth workers to prepare the facilities for the arrival of participants and organize and deliver some of the seminars during the exchange. The participants are a group of 58 young people between the ages of 17 and 29 from different social strata. They are proactive, open-minded, and eager to explore how to live in a better world, and above all, how to navigate the current global situation. These are young people whose plans have now been interrupted or destroyed by the pandemic, and they are faced with the need to reshape their lives, discover new options, and expand their horizons, considering new study plans and new career options. The young people are eager to participate in the project in Spain, with the goal of meeting new people who will not only provide them with the opportunity to make new friends, but also new opportunities for intellectual and intercultural development, and, above all, for work and learning.
Participants from each country will be chosen from among the youth groups with which partner organizations work. We will seek those with a special interest and a need to change their lifestyle to a more rural one, and who are in need of new ideas and opportunities for economic and social development. Furthermore, they must have a special interest not only in learning, but also in sharing what they have learned with those around them.
