There is evidence of the global decline of pollinators. The main threats include land-use change, intensive agricultural management and pesticide use, environmental pollution, invasive alien species such as the Asian hornet, pathogens, climate change, and natural predators in the environment. Given the diverse factors that threaten bees, the Extremadura beekeeping sector has managed to position itself among the most important, both in Extremadura and nationally, in terms of its economic and environmental value, and, of course, its significant impact and social component, making it one of the most localized sectors in our country. To address these needs, a project is proposed with the following training activities:
- Blended training for unemployed individuals who want to enter the beekeeping sector. This training includes online and in-person sessions, which include practical work in both the laboratory and the field.
- In-person training aimed at improving students' employability in matters related to beekeeping management and production in the current context of hive mortality. It will be delivered through two groups of 13 people in Extremadura and one group of 12 in Cádiz (the same groups will receive the mixed-mode training). The training will address both cross-cutting employability issues (self-awareness, CV preparation, interview preparation, communication) and specific employment issues in the beekeeping sector (labor market, opportunities, job transformation, green job search channels and sources, etc.).
- Individual remote support, through eight hours of one-on-one tutoring aimed at designing a personalized itinerary with each student, aimed at improving employability in sustainable construction and based on their needs and profile, as well as the opportunities offered by the sector in the region.
TARGETED AT: Unemployed people from Castilla – La Mancha, the Canary Islands, the Region of Murcia, Asturias, Andalusia, Extremadura and Galicia.
Minimize the impact of climate change.
