To deepen our understanding of the state of biodiversity in agricultural systems and its potential causes, analyze how the current CAP and RDPs are contributing to the proper management of the Natura 2000 Network, and make proposals for its improvement and increase the social appreciation of the relationship between agriculture and biodiversity, the Spanish Ornithological Society, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, has launched this project.
The initiative has promoted the dissemination of the Natura 2000 Network and the role that agricultural farms play in its conservation, through the launch of "Abre Natura 2018", a series of events around the European Natura 2000 Network Day in which 11 farms linked to the Network opened their doors to showcase their way of life, their activities, their products and their relationship with Natura 2000. 205 people came on May 19 and 20 to visit, experience and hear directly from those who know them best, their peculiarities and the biodiversity sheltered by the Natura 2000 Network. This activity also connected the urban world with the rural environment, and vindicated the importance of producers who are responsible for the environment.
Workshops at 11 farms linked to the Natura 2000 Network to showcase their way of life, their activities, their products, and their relationship with Natura 2000.
